Amazon Web Services has just announced the opening of a second Amazon CloudFront edge location in Stockholm, Sweden. This is great news especially for customers in the Nordic region, as the new edge location will improve your application performance and availability for end users.
A new Amazon CloudFront edge location would significantly increase Amazon CloudFront throughput in the Nordics. Your customers will experience this Amazon Web Services’ investment as faster response times and better availability of your services. With this improvement you may want to revisit your content distribution strategy for the Nordics.
The new edge location will also provide AWS Web Application Firewall and Shield services protecting your systems further on AWS. The increased capacity improves the services’ ability to fend off regional DDOS attacks.
Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery network (CDN) service that securely delivers data, videos, applications, and APIs to your viewers with low latency and high transfer speeds. CloudFront is integrated with AWS – both physical locations that are directly connected to the AWS global infrastructure, as well as software that works seamlessly with services including AWS Shield for DDoS mitigation, Amazon S3, Elastic Load Balancing or Amazon EC2 as origins for your applications, and AWS Lambda to run custom code close to your viewers.
Some of the Amazon CloudFront key benefits include extensive integration with other AWS services, ease of use, cost effective pay-as-you-go pricing scheme and the growing global distribution network exhibited by this latest edge location.
