I love cloud, so any step towards it I personally see as being truly great. But all choices have consequences and with this article, I want to highlight those of moving to private cloud.
Everybody appreciates the agility and elasticity of the public cloud, however, there are also large amounts of legacy apps that simply don’t move easily to the public cloud. This means that up until now, the Hybrid Cloud choir has been singing their 'happily ever after' song.
Unfortunately, this hybrid cloud choir has largely become led by the vendors who have the most to lose, and use this as a way to stall things. So let’s break down what you actually need and what could be seen as a colossal waste of time and money.
In this blog post, I will be picking up on what my colleague Sandip discussed in his latest blog post, 'Innovating by Making a Difference'. Based on that, I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about how Nordcloud Germany have managed to stay on top of the industry for the last year or two. It's been about focussing on the right things at the right time. For example, we haven't worked in the Private Cloud space, and we haven't been involved in the SaaS world of productivity, collaboration or CRM. We have stayed focussed purely on leading Public Cloud platforms; AWS, Azure & Google to deliver full-stack consultancy and services.
As we already discussed in our previous blog post, the GDPR is a regulation that is not bound to any country in the European Union specifically, nor is it meant for any particular technology or type of business. It applies to all countries within the EU as well as to all companies providing services to and interacting with EU citizens and businesses.
As of May 2018 a new data regulation law will be put into place by the European Union. Given the large scale impact of this new regulation, the EU administration have released the requirements already, to give businesses, public agencies and citizens time to adapt already today and some time before it becomes actually legally binding.
